Meet Carolyn Hanesworth, PhD, LCSW

Hello and welcome! I am a clinical social worker with over 30 years of experience spanning direct practice, administration, education and consultation in the fields of mental health and homelessness.

Training professionals  in Critial Time Intervention is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. I believe it to be  the most effective, ethical, and compassionate models for supporting people through critical transitions. I'm always eager to connect with providers interested in applying CTI to their work, especially in innovative ways.

Currently, I serve as an independent consultant and certified trainer with the Center for the Advancement of Critical Time Intervention (CACTI) at the Silberman School of Social Work, CUNY/Hunter College. I also maintain a private psychotherapy practice.

In 2016, I became the Project Director for a multi-year pilot study exploring the implementation of Critical Time Intervention (CTI) for Rapid Rehousing across seven agencies in Connecticut. Through this initiative, I co-developed a comprehensive CTI toolkit and manual designed to support practitioners in the field. At CACTI, I continue to lead and support national efforts to disseminate CTI, training organizations that serve individuals experiencing homelessness, serious mental illness, incarceration, foster care transitions, and addiction.

If you're interested in exploring how CTI can benefit your organization, I'd be happy to offer a free consultation. We'll work together to find an approach that aligns with your population, mission, vision, outcomes—and your budget. Feel free to reach out to start the conversation.
